Sheet Packaging

In order to meet the greatly increased demands made upon packaging in respect of quality and environmental protection, we produced a packaging concept following the completion of comprehensive investigations. Our concept contains all the comments made, and experience gained, since the introduction of our cut-size packaging in 1988.

This method of packaging has proved to be a great success and was also warmly welcomed under environmental considerations. This information gives an exact description and details of the components of our packaging method. The advantages of the packaging fall into two main categories:

This produces the following important advantages in comparison to other packaging methods:

Strong Ream-Wrapping

The corrugated protective boards and the strong PE coated kraft paper ensure that the reams are not damaged when handled correctly.

Good Climatic Protection

The PE coated kraft paper seals the product under production conditions. The optimum conditioning of the paper is thus maintained for delivery to the printer.

Excellent Moisture Protection

Complete wrapping of the pallet with packaging film ensures that pallets are completely protected against moisture during transportation. this guarantees efficient and trouble-free processing of the paper.

Stable Pallets, Edge Protectors

The pallets are stabilized by the use of 4-fold-strapping and PE stretchfilm. This gives the pallet good stability and protection.

Optimum Freight and Warehousing Costs

By reducing the height of individual reams and increasing the pallet height to 1.40 m (gross) it was possible to increase the number of sheets per pallet.

In the case of standard substances this presented an increase from 24,000 to 30,000 sheets per pallet - an increase of no less than 25%! This produced great benefits in terms of warehouse space utilization and helped to optimize freight costs.

Environmentally-Friendly Disposal Instead of Mountains of Plastic Waste

Mountains of plastic waste and empty cartons are not produced - instead, the total amount of packaging materials used were greatly reduced in comparison to the usual methods of packaging, particularly in the amount of plastic used. Furthermore, a great reduction in the number of pallets required was achieved. The packaging material may be recycled or disposed of without problem. The expense and the space required for storage was reduced by an average of at least 70%! This is illustrated by the diagram below.
